Luke 16

1 He also said to his disciples, “There was a certain rich man who had a manager. An accusation was made to him that this man was wasting his possessions.  2 He called him, and said to him, 'What is this that I hear about you? Give an accounting of your management, for you can no longer be manager.'

3 “The manager said within himself, 'What will I do, seeing that my lord is taking away the management position from me? I don't have strength to dig. I am ashamed to beg.  4 I know what I will do, so that when I am removed from management, they may receive me into their houses.'  5 Calling each one of his lord's debtors to him, he said to the first, 'How much do you owe to my lord?'  6 He said, 'A hundred batos of oil.' He said to him, 'Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.'  7 Then said he to another, 'How much do you owe?' He said, 'A hundred cors of wheat.' He said to him, 'Take your bill, and write eighty.'

8 “His lord commended the dishonest manager because he had done wisely, for the children of this world are, in their own generation, wiser than the children of the light.  9 I tell you, make for yourselves friends by means of unrighteous mammon, so that when you fail, they may receive you into the eternal tents.  10 He who is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much. He who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.  11 If therefore you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?  12 If you have not been faithful in that which is another's, who will give you that which is your own?  13 No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to one, and despise the other. You aren't able to serve God and mammon.”

14 The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they scoffed at him.  15 He said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts. For that which is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.  16 The law and the prophets were until John. From that time the gospel of the Kingdom of God is preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it.  17 But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away, than for one tiny stroke of a pen in the law to fall.  18 Everyone who divorces his wife, and marries another, commits adultery. He who marries one who is divorced from a husband commits adultery.

19 “Now there was a certain rich man, and he was clothed in purple and fine linen, living in luxury every day.  20 A certain beggar, named Lazarus, was laid at his gate, full of sores,  21 and desiring to be fed with the crumbs that fell from the rich man's table. Yes, even the dogs came and licked his sores.  22 It happened that the beggar died, and that he was carried away by the angels to Abraham's bosom. The rich man also died, and was buried.  23 In Hades, he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far off, and Lazarus at his bosom.  24 He cried and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue! For I am in anguish in this flame.'

25 “But Abraham said, 'Son, remember that you, in your lifetime, received your good things, and Lazarus, in like manner, bad things. But now here he is comforted and you are in anguish.  26 Besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, that those who want to pass from here to you are not able, and that none may cross over from there to us.'

27 “He said, 'I ask you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father's house;  28 for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, so they won't also come into this place of torment.'

29 “But Abraham said to him, 'They have Moses and the prophets. Let them listen to them.'

30 “He said, 'No, father Abraham, but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.'

31 “He said to him, 'If they don't listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if one rises from the dead.'”

Luke 14:3

3 Jesus, answering, spoke to the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”

Luke 23:43

43 Jesus said to him, “Assuredly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”

John 5:24-30

24 “Most assuredly I tell you, he who hears my word, and believes him who sent me, has eternal life, and doesn't come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.  25 Most assuredly, I tell you, the hour comes, and now is, when the dead will hear the Son of God's voice; and those who hear will live.  26 For as the Father has life in himself, even so he gave to the Son also to have life in himself.  27 He also gave him authority to execute judgment, because he is a son of man.  28 Don't marvel at this, for the hour comes, in which all that are in the tombs will hear his voice,  29 and will come out; those who have done good, to the resurrection of life; and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgment.  30 I can of myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is righteous; because I don't seek my own will, but the will of my Father who sent me.

Revelation 6:9-10

9 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been killed for the Word of God, and for the testimony of the Lamb which they had.  10 They cried with a loud voice, saying, "How long, Master, the holy and true, until you judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?"

Revelation 22:11

11 He who acts unjustly, let him act unjustly still. He who is filthy, let him be filthy still. He who is righteous, let him do righteousness still. He who is holy, let him be holy still."

Matthew 25:10

10 While they went away to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut.

Acts 2:27-31

27 Because you will not leave my soul in Hades,  Neither will you allow your Holy One to see decay.

28 You made known to me the ways of life.  You will make me full of gladness with your presence.'

29 "Brothers, I may tell you freely of the patriarch David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.  30 Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, according to the flesh, he would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne,  31 he foreseeing this spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that neither was his soul left in Hades, nor did his flesh see decay.

2 Corinthians 5:1-4

1 For we know that if the earthly house of our tent is dissolved, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal, in the heavens.  2 For most assuredly in this we groan, longing to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven;  3 if so be that being clothed we will not be found naked.  4 For indeed we who are in this tent do groan, being burdened; not that we desire to be unclothed, but that we desire to be clothed, that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.

2 Corinthians 12:1-4

1 It is doubtless not profitable for me to boast. For I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.  2 I know a man in Christ, fourteen years ago (whether in the body, I don't know, or whether out of the body, I don't know; God knows), such a one caught up into the third heaven.  3 I know such a man (whether in the body, or outside of the body, I don't know; God knows),  4 how he was caught up into Paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

Psalms 9:17

17 The wicked shall be turned back to Sheol,  Even all the nations that forget God.

Psalms 139:8

8 If I ascend up into heaven, you are there.  If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, you are there!

2 Peter 2:4-9

4 For if God didn't spare angels when they sinned, but cast them down to Tartarus, and committed them to pits of darkness, to be reserved to judgment;  5 and didn't spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah with seven others, a preacher of righteousness, when he brought a flood on the world of the ungodly;  6 and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, having made them an example to those who would live ungodly;  7 and delivered righteous Lot, who was very distressed by the lustful life of the wicked  8 (for that righteous man dwelling among them, was tormented in his righteous soul from day to day with seeing and hearing lawless deeds):  9 the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptation and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment;

Jude:6

6 Angels who didn't keep their first domain, but deserted their own dwelling place, he has kept in everlasting bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day.

Luke 10:15

15 You, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to Hades.
